She struggled through that night
and the cords so long and tight
never ceased to weigh and hold her down
Clothes ragged, sere and bare,
Brambles in her hair,
She hungered for the peace to end the pain
But one day the sun came shining down
and one day the earth was covered round
and one day she was dressed in clothes so fine so fair
And one day she had flowers in her hair
And one day peace was settled there
Happiness filled every corner then,
And all of her companions true found friends,
Injustice was brought down and judged for what it was
Walls were torn down
People laughed like clowns
Musicians played in the market square
All the earth was one
And love filled everyone
The day that they all found their freedom
