On a hillside morning

I saw my love
I saw her near
With locks of golden shining hair

Her head was high
Her neck was thin
I longed to kiss her there again

Down the pathway
Down I came
To see my lovely lass again

She rose up
To meet me there
With her locks of golden hair

She hugged me close
Her body near
I felt her warm breath in my hair

We tenderly did embrace
And kisses there did we trace
Upon each part that we loved best
it could not be,
it would not be,
Another way this was the best

At last we lay
Together there
Our arms entwined like braided hair

We pledged our troth
To ne’er part ever
And true we stayed and parted never
