I’ve passed by the lilacs so sweet and so fair
Woven red ribbons in my long blond hair
The lily of the valley, greets me with dew
A new life I’ve found, in the absence of you
You were my shell, confining and tight
A robe of blue satin bound tightly in white
The hood was drawn down low so no one could see
The true person inside, trying to break free
But now that I’ve passed, through fire and ice
Sang the long dirge, it will have to suffice
She that remains is fully at peace
Sings with the birds, at her own ease
