Donald Trump has truly presented the kind of petty person he is. He is this sociopath picking on what is already one of the most victimized groups in our society. Transgender men and women have barely reached equity and not even on a national level. There are states where we can still be thrown out of housing, jobs, refused service in public accommodations, arrested for the outrageous behavior of wanting to use a public bathroom to urinate and now we are not good enough to defend our country.
Not only not good enough but apparently so toxic that he must purge us from the ranks. Defy his own department of defence whose already very conservative generals (and they are) had come around to deciding that LGBT+ people weren’t a problem.
But Donald J. Trump, who’s knowledge is all encompassing, knows better.
I thought with enough people providing him cover he would allow his ill considered move against us to die. Instead he is moving forward with what will prove to be one of the more ill considered moves yet in his presidency. For as much as many on the right condemn LGBT+ people for their “lifestyle” they support our troops much more, and this is not a cause celeb to attack troops, even if LGBT+ one.
You can easily confirm the above if you have any doubt. Please join me in supporting Lambda legal and other groups that are fighting for transgender rights. Now is the time to make our voices heard.
I normally try to avoid politics in this blog. It is not about political stances but about facts, combating prejudice, learning, science, and so forth. I cannot stand silently aside with this going on.
