It’s Sunday evening and I’ve had the last solid food before surgery. Tomorrow is about having a liquid diet interspersed with powerful antibiotics meant to kill every microbe in my gut and other powerful bactericides to kill those on my body. All of which ends with a power, well, I’ll leave the last to your imagination but let’s just say I’ll be squeaky clean.
Seriously, 1g of neomycin tomorrow in 2 doses and 1g of flagyl in 2 doses. OMG, they are really serious. But given the infections running around these days I can’t blame them. All I know is wednesday morning’s breakfast is including yogurt and probiotics.
Between when I get up and midnight (more realistically 10pm since I’m getting up at 4am) I can have broth and clear fluids and jello. Yum.
I don’t have any great worries, just general anxiety that it go well. But I do have confidence in the surgical team and I’m sure my Uber driver will get me there to earn a tip.
See you on the other side.
