I finally finished this round of squash my thumb with a hammer and decided to build a holder for spools of filament. I made that out of wood but wanted “washers” to keep it from sliding. I decided that would be an easy first project to print.
In the lower right is a short cylinder with another “subtracted” from it. The inner cylinder is the diameter of the dowel I’m using, 1″ and the outer is 1 1/2″ which gives me a thickness of 1/4″.
This is visualized in Microsoft’s 3D program, but others are much the same.
I then ran it through Repetier and printed it yielding the ring on the left. If you look closely you can see that the slicer arranges for three solid layers on the inner and outer surfaces.
Finally, on the upper right you can see the ring in place on the dowel making a nice tight fit, which was very gratifying.
