The wall still stands

By the door

The wall stands

Covered with the grit and soil of many a harsh day

It holds back fear and joy alike,

Coated in the dust of a thousand raging storms.

The wall stands

With the streaks of thousands of tears inspired by fears and loneliness.

What will it take to bring down the wall

How will we break the yet unbroken

Become one, united in care for our fellow travelers

Hearing their pain and giving comfort, sharing ours and receiving succor

Reaching out to listen to the stranger’s tale

Let us pray.the wall falls

That divides, that holds our pain, that keeps in our empathy and compassion
