My attitudes about makeup keep changing. First it was all about passing. Next it was about work and special events. Then I was mostly forgoing it because I was retired. On to a new phase.
These days I regularly sport lipstick when I go out unless I’m just grabbing the mail. I have a few I like, a deep pink, a dusky rose, a red/brown and a berry from Smashbox named fig that they don’t make anymore (drat!). I also have this cool metallic lip gloss from Julep.
It’s really a fun thing in my book and it really dresses up my face. Recently I’ve started adding some creme blush. For a long while I was thinking I didn’t need it if I didn’t wear foundation, but it makes my face look more alive. It also helps with some outfits, something I was oblivious too until a friend pointed out that my blush made the yellow cardigan I was wearing pop. Go figure.
At the rate I’m going I may get back to wearing mascara, but not for now. But I think part of this renewal has to do with a general optimism, but that’s for another blog entry.
