President Donald Trump stood before an adoring crowd and said he would support the L G B T and Q communities. I may have the quote wrong but as is not uncommon for him, he said it in an odd fashion. Perhaps he even meant it at that time.
From the moment he has taken office however he has clear cut ever small gain made for transgender rights. With the Pentagon quite content with the status quo he’s trying, and so far losing, a battle to exclude trans people from the armed forces. The generals don’t care and neither do the rest of the CO’s, NCO’s or enlisted. Nobody cares. But he has to tilt at this windmill.
Then he withdrew the advice of the department of education that was attempting to get school districts to treat trans children with dignity. Way to go Donald, attack children.
The DOJ announced that being trans would no longer be considered as a class under Title IX of the education act, nor could federal employers be sued for gender identity based discrimination (at the federal level of course).
Now the piece de resistance, he wants to define sex as the dangly bits between our legs at birth. Aside from the problems when dealing with intersex people, is he really so ignorant, I ask rhetorically – of course he is. The world consensus, including from every western democracy is that we exist. The arguments are over rights, which is of course upsetting, but not existence.
Is the Dept of State now going to send me a cancellation on my passport because it says female or does my birth certificate trump that?
Remember when the President was someone every child could aspire to be? Who at least publicly projected high moral values. What has happened to us America?
I am disgusted, nauseated and praying for someone to invoke the 25th amendment.
