First Event 2018

This last weekend was First Event, the first transgender event of the year. FE is, like most such events attended by both trans women and men as well as cross dressers and the occasional person who’s bordering on drag (or even just in drag).

The cross dressers used to bother me some, but now it is just part of the landscape and truthfully you have to be careful as the line between inexperienced trans women who are just learning to dress and cross dressers can be impossible to spot.

My single remaining teeth grating problem with both groups is high hemlines. I’m sorry, I do notttttttt want to see your birthday  present. Really not. Otherwise it’s a matter of taste and that varies a great deal. Probably the single unfortunate thing there is the common use of synthetic wigs which are simply inexpensive and shiny as all creation. You could use one to project a bat signal 🙂

This was my fifth year attending the event. The workshops were generally not so interesting as I’m not going to get facial surgery done and everything else is finished. That leaves social workshops which I might attend.

I spent a lot of my time socializing. I slept late and puttered at home then arrived at 1 or 2pm. Spent time on the vendor floor getting pampered by the girls from Sephora and talking to attendees and vendors and then moving on to the social stuff and dinner.

900+   people attended this year. Positively amazing!
