Clothing, the constabulary is likely to stop you on the street if you aren’t wearing any. Underwear, clothing, layering, outerwear in cold and chilly weather, just underwear and thin clothing in hot.
Clothing is an expression of personality, highly individualized, at least for women. For men there are rows of button down shirts and maybe the odd polo or turtleneck for the upper body, slacks or jeans for the lower and a suit for special occasions. A tux for extra special occasions! Don’t get me wrong, a sharp well tailored suit can really “make the man”, it’s just that there isn’t a whole lot of variety.
Today’s outfit is a top I got through StitchFix, one of a number of services that “styles” for you. It sends you some pieces on a periodic basis, e.g. each month or every other month, then you keep what you want and send back the rest. You can also exchange a piece to get the right size.
The top is an olive green I wouldn’t have even tried on my own, but it works. The slacks are a charcoal gray and I took the photo in slippers so they don’t really go 🙂
The top floats away from my body making it much less obvious that I have “love handles”.
I could pair this top with jeans or a long skirt and have something nice to wear too.
My outfits seem to mostly put themselves together without a great deal of thinking: pick a top, find a bottom that goes, grab socks/tights/nothing and shoes/boots/sandals.
I really looked forward to wearing this top for the first time. It’s part of a generation of clothing in my closet that I love and don’t just feel are “ok”. That’s my criteria now for clothing – it has to fit and I have to love it or really want to wear it. Anything less and forget it, I don’t need trash filling drawers and hangers.

That top looks great on you. I love the variety of clothes I can wear now. Only problem is I am running out of closet space!
