The river flows to the sea
Such is the history of you and me
Water passing to be gone
At the shore, waving so long
One time dreams pass me bye
New ones slow to come nigh
But slowly, slowly over time
Time heals the painful past
Then to memory serves one well
Memories aren’t all of Heaven or Hell
Fond memories are guarded dear
While sad ones slowly disappear
Future memories yet to make
Leads me on to contemplate
How to live the fullest life
and new friends come over time
To hone my appreciation for their rhyme
Years left to be unfolded slow
And wonders more to grow

I’m happy that your father wrote poetry & now you are writing poetry.
