I used to get bent out of shape when reading some inane commentary from people who view trans people as deluded. Their attitude only shows that the person has absolutely no conception of where a trans person’s feelings and self image come from. This becomes toxic from all the things people believe they understand about us. Let’s start by clearly defining what it means to be trans gender.

Me too but people who study this stuff say that animals can have non aligned sex characteristics too, so the adjective says that a trans identifying person might have, for example, a square jaw despite their mental image of their self is that they are female. Remember I’m not talking about their body, I’m talking about th internalized view of what they should have.

So a transwoman will perhaps have this internal self view that she should be rounded, no sign of facial hair and a nice pair of soft breasts. Her reality might be that she looks like a truck driver with a full beard. Speaking only for myself I I myself was constantly reminded that I wasn’t that pretty girl, I had bumps on my chest but they were my pectoral muscles, not breasts.To tell the truth? I vastly prefer the breasts.

There are shortcuts to describe the different endpoints that people choose as their goal for transition. No op means that the person is not going to do any surgical modifications. Some people do not even take hormones. By and large people who don’t want to take hormones will likely never be able to pass. These days a typical reasonable balance for a be to take hormones, get hair removal done and maybe get an orchectomy to remove the testicles, which not only provides the need for testosterone blockers. Lastly because most of this is not covered by insurance, people will usually do all this in stages.

On to delusions. In an attempt to prove us mentally incompetent, the critics will point to the statement that transwoman are women stands as a false premise. They say, “see? Anyone can see that they aren’t women, they believe they are so they’re deluded, or alternatively suffering from some mental pathology.

But no reasonable transwomen means that they are literally female in the sense of having been conceived having female chromosomes, a uterus and fallopian tubes etc.

What we mean Is that’s we’re female mentally and often more than a bit physically. For example with some lactation hormones I could wet nurse a baby. Can’t say I think this likely but it’s conceivable. Judging from peoplles’ reactions and the number of times I’ve been asked when my last period was, the nurses can’t tell at least not by looking at me.

Some time in the next thirty years we can probable change someone’s sex via medical intervention. Sadly there will still be deniers and perhaps a bit comically is that everything could be just right, but these folks will always find a reason to disrespect and threaten physical violence.

now the critics are often misinformed. A lot, for example seem to believe a neovagina consists of essentially a raw cut opening. Not only is this not true, but aside from not being able to deliver a baby, is just like a natal vagina. It maintains a proper ph, and contains the same lactobaciilli as a natal vagina.

But all this isn’t delusional, we’re aware we weren’t born female. Calling someone like me male is delusional.
